I got disc all around.. Karman ghia rotors with corolla calipers up front and 280z rotors with corolla calipers outback. Valves to make 4 wheel disc on stock bug pedal or seperate the front to pull handle.

Nissan sentra calipers with vw rotors,varga calipers kept breaking and causing a rollover dont recommend using those offroad! |

Old Buggy has Porche rear disks with cutters and front has Stock wide 5 drums on seperate hand operated master cylinder. New Buggy runs Jamar wide 5 rotors and hubs with Wildwood calipers on all 4 with cutters on rear and porportinal valves on front and rear off single master cylinder. |

stock vw drum brakes are all u need for front unless u put them on a seperate hand acuated circut then what ever disc in rear maybee willwood dyna lite 4 piston jobs

Kendal, One thing i can say about running drum brakes in the front is that the shoes ware out pretty quick. I found my self adjusting them before every ride. The shoes only lasted me about 5 weekends of riding |

The VW calipers do not have a slide mechanism and if slid sideways hard, the caliper cannot move and it will break the caliper and/or rotor. There is a BIG difference in break pads. I`m not sure of the piston size but they work great just a little pressure on the pedal or turning brake and that wheel stops got them off ebay for $30 bucks and any autoparts store sells parts and complete calipers just in case something happens been 3 years and no problems brake pads still look like new.Mine are off the front your right the backs are smaller because most of the braking is done in front so those are the ones to get.There was a guy that told me he used 80`s camaro fronts that worked pretty good. aaron |
