Just wondering, I have seen mid engine buggys that are set up for the sand, with the tranny facing towards the rear and the engine right behind the seat, has anyone ever ran this set up in the woods? Looks to me like to would be a killer setup for hill climbing. Whats your guys thoughts on it, do you know someone who has already tried it, how did it work? It looks to me like it should be pretty balanced and would climb well, unless theres not enough weight over the wheels for traction. let me know what you guys think.....Donnie

I have been looking fo a suby with a five speed to put the whole thing in. including the suby trans. A friend of mine has a citation 2.8 and auto in his car and he likes it. He says its balanced well.

steve, I want to hear more about your friends car(buggy?). I am building one with a 3800 using the auto trans ( it's what I have for now). The motor and trans is just ahead of the rear tires. I thought it would be balanced very well. Does he climb any with it? Very interesting....... Tom

He states that he can stop in the middle of a climb and start off again. no problem. The only thing I dont care for is he still has the struts on it. I'll have post some pics later.

I have heard rumers that you can flip a six rib and go mid engine. I don;t know if this is true or not or what kind of adapter it would require. Roy or Eric can that be done?

Steve that is good to hear about your buddy's buggy (for me). Maybe mine will work out well.
Guys, ....... do a search for "swedish Trikes" ( I think). They do a mid-engine trike that is very cool. Something about using two transmissions to correct the rotation reversal(cuased by switching the motor trans position around).

They do that so they can move the motor up front kinda like a goldwing. the first trans has the clutch and long input shaft, the second has the gears. I thought about it but dont think its safe on a motorcycle anymore.

Nope, only ones you can flip are swing axes and some IRS sedan trannys.
The bus tranny has the pinion offset in the case, no flippage........
You can mount it upside down but that opens up a ton of other problems too.

Thats what I thought might have kept people from trying it, because i know if it worked someone would already be doing it. I know alot of people use them for drag racing to help keep the front end down, i just didnt know if it would work on a woodsbuggy or not.
