Post subject:  Ecotech building pressure in tank and shutting off

While riding this past weekend my buggy all the sudden shut off and fuel was coming out of the vent hose in the tank that I installed. When I tried to start it up the fuel pressure gage said it was only putting out 15 or 20 psi. When I pulled the gas cap off it had pressure in the tank. Once the buggy sat for 10 min or so with the fuel cap off it would fire rite back up and run normal for 15 min or so then shut off again with the same problem. Im running a black plastic tank. This was the first time I ran it in the 90 degree weather. Should I add another vent to the tank? Would building up pressure in the tank like that cause it to lower the amount of pressure the pump puts out?

Which version is your system?
Here is a thread to "help" figure out
which fuel system that you may have:

Historically speaking, common fuel issues are:
1) bad fuel pump (pressure too low).
2) bad check valve(s).
3) bad fuel regulator.
4) fuel getting hot somewhere
and vapor locking.
5) bad sensor or sensor wire(s) broken.
6) clog in filter or lines.
7) bad ground wire(s).
8 ) poor B+ connection(s).
9) bad inertial fuel pump switch (Ford)
10) incorrect fuel line used, wrong fuel
pump or fuel pump located too far from fuel
rails.

make sure your vent is working right. if your tank has to build pressure before it vents, that is your problem. Try taking your cap loose and see if it stalls.

Was it a clogged vent? I taped my gas tank cap because it kept falling off. I made it three miles on a moonless night. As I walked back from the truck with tools and a flashlight I could hear a hissing it was my gas tank. Undid the tape and it started.
