If you can find 16" steel wheels you can cut out the original center and replace it with VW wide 5 center plate (which I make) and have any off set you want.

This is where I bought my wheels for the red 4x4. They sell 16 inch wide 5 wheels. The wheels I had were three piece wheels. You can pick your offset on the inside and the outside and then pick your center bolt pattern. They were a little expense but when I broke a wheel, I only had to replace one piece.

Custom metal spinning is where i got mine. Man they were nice for about one day whoops a rock ledge got the tire and bent the outside of the rim over the lug nuts. oh well crap happens when you try to show off and its pouring rain. I still have that rim and tire as a spare front(16x3.5 alum.rim with a single rib 7.50x16 tire) the other one (the good one) i guess it fell off the trailer or somebody might have wanted it more than me dont really know for sure. well its somewhere between Comerce Ga. and Charlotte Nc. i guess the buggy gods wanted me to keep the 39.5 swampers on the front butt it sure is fugly with those big balloons on front.
