I went Subaru in my race buggy because of the center of gravity and torque. it eats the eco tecs up like nobodys business! That being said, I had a VERY hard time finding the parts I needed to build it(most were custom made), they were expensive and had very few choices at the time for an ECU and then even harder time finding someone to tune it. it seems like everybody is going the way of the eco, and for a woods buggy, I would too. |

Building a bad ass buggy is not cheap period. You go bigger with one part then it makes another part weaker and so on down the line. Buy once cry once you get what you pay for. And if you have a few beers and tend to put it places you might not normally do, then you can just about double the cost right off the bat, lol. Chad |

It's not "badass" but if you're not totally set on having big power, a 1641 and a 3 rib is cheap, reliable, and can get you anywhere you want to go on the trails without breaking. You can climb most hills also....Trust me, I know. I spent more money and broke more stuff in the few years I had a stroker than the other 15 years I've been riding. |

If you can't drive it,don't blame it on the motor. |

Pretty pictures and video are great. I think the Echotech is a great option and I have recommended AFI on many occasions. Please get a handle on customer service I don't want to piss my friends off sending them somewhere where they don't get excellent service after the sale. For this guy it's always going to be Acura power Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is a subject that will never end!!! But here is my 2 cents. I run a 2500 weddle gear buggy and mostly trail ride and I love it. Plenty of power. I ride with a few 2.4 ecotecs and they run great to. With that being said I am building a new buggy soon and it will be water cooler!!!! Best bang for the buck regardless of what motor you use. And I will also keep the AC buggy love aircooled. And Madmike I don't think it's been proved by any WC buggy a can beat a AC in competition. Specially a Subaru so you better get it done cause just seems like those bama boys just keep getting faster. And if some is paying to have the work done then definitely WC is the only way to go. |

There's no reason a W/C wouldn't outclimb an aircooled, just nobody has built the right car yet. The A/C lot have had 50 years to get their weight distribution sorted... There ain't no A/C gonna beat me down the race trails though |

a water cooled has to over come its weight difference over the air cooled (not like that is a problem) and will always result in a heavier buggy. air cooled will always have that advantage. I have both and will argue either way. |

I recently got two Dyson vacuum cleaners and replaced the motors. One with an ecotec and one with an AC 2500. Then I threw my life savings on the floor.... In test after test the AC motor sucked up my money at nearly FOUR TIMES the speed of the ecotec.... |

I have both and I agree with racebugg. I think its going to take a bigger tire to overcome the weight difference. But if I had to choose it will be WC just because of maintenance Sent from my SCH-I545L using Tapatalk |
