I know this has been discussed several times before.... I took my buggy to the city scales this weekend and my buggy is 2240 pounds...

I did not think that was so bad since I have a Honda V6 engine, 8000 lb Winch, 31 inch swampers on the front and 35 inch swampers on the rear (both on steel wheels) and a tool box.

What does your buggy weigh?

My take.. a running start with my 3900 cc built buick baby chain is HEAVY and only the word of the ALMIGHTY can stop it. But come to a stop , I am done with my cut tires. It's too heavy! That must be why chain drives had bolted tires. lol

The day I had my on the dyno I also weighed it...1649 pounds. I was surprised. ..I was thinking lower. I started with a warrior frame added 34 feet of pipe rancho built swing axle. Now 2275cc vw 35" boogers on back 29" htd Hercules on front. And yes now it pops wheelies.

I heard this rule once. every 100 pounds is like loosing 10 hp. These sxs buggies are taking the lead these days. I seen one yesterday that had an incredible angle to the dangle c/v joints that gave it unreal ground height.

My buggy is aprox 2100 lbs. that's with ecotec,33 inch boggers and no one in it. I carry tools,a winch, high lift jack,a winch bag with recovery strap, chain, jumper cables, etc and a spare tire that make up about 280 lbs of my weight.

As far as 100 lbs being equal to 10 hp I have no idea however at the dragstrip every hundred pounds lost or gained is approximately a difference of a tenth of a second.

No I was not in it. And the weird think is front left 182# right front 296# right rear 656# left rear 515#. Now it wasn't completely level ground, but that's still far off. I have disk breaks all the way round same with fox shocks no coils. Two seater.

I guess all frames should be built on a jig. I built one off the floor once and when the right front side cooled it had warped 1.5" off the floor! Low tire pressure may make a difference on the scale also. Smokey from Chilton County had one of the most warped up rode hard frames ever, but was one of the best climbers. Does not a frame torque to the right. Maybe different weights can make a + or- difference. I've pulled the mechanicals out of frames and into others and they would not get out of their own way. Flexing is very important and extra stiff front ends lift the grip off the rear tires.

I am glad to see another W/C buggy over 2000 lbs. Even though the W/C buggy is heavy, I have plenty of power to spare.

My last two seater was a Warrior clone, it had a 2.2 Subaru and lots of junk along for the ride, 1940#, full of fuel and no one in it.
