Mossy Oak,

I think everyone just isn't enough of a Weber expert to answer this, and there are so many factors. One main one is what size venturis you are running. You can make virtually any carb work on any engine with the right venturis - smaller for smaller displacement, larger for big motors like yours. For 44's, I would call 38 and up large. There are so many variables, you just about have to start somewhere and take plug readings, etc. to get where you need to be. Too lean is a lot more likely to cause problems than too rich. 55 idles usually work to some degree for about any weber carb. If you can fire it right up cold and run it, likely too rich, and if you have to baby it forever to get it warm enough to run probably too lean. If you could get it running and then describe what it does or doesn't do then you can get more and better suggestions as to needed changes.
