Ok.. A lot of help.. Lol. Gave the buggy a nice wash this weekend. Got its relatavely clean.. Decided I'm going to buy a power washer lol. Changed the oil but when I opened filler cap There was gasoline right in the lip inside my oil fill! The "breather hose" right underneath the cap leads directly to the carbureted to pressurize the system.. Or so I was told.. But why is there gasoline mixing with oil?? I'm by far an expert on air cooled engines especially vw. But I'm pretty sure the two are never supposed to touch... So I sucked a bit of it up with a turkey Baster smelled it and then lit it on fire so yeah I'm 95 percent positive its gasoline.. The oil in the engine was pitch black to .. I called the guy and he said he has always ran full synthetic .. So that can't be good right? No metal shaving though, so that's a plus. . Also my other problem is a tremendous amount of throttle lag.. Seems to flood the engine or something to that effect if I'm at idle and I smash the gas it almost stalls. Or even half throttle for that matter I have to give it a quarter throttle at a time or it won't rev right. Is this a clogged jet, stuck open float, should I rebuild the carb? sorry for the long post but I didn't want to make multiple threads. Any help is appreciated thanks..
P.s I also crushed a fender of my t trailer because my 31's are to wide so if anyone is selling a smaller rear set for cheap let me know.. Thanks -joe

Is the choke staying closed? What carb does it have?

Looks like a webber 44 to me. And I've never had to use the choke so I'm not sure. Starts up every time with no problem.

I would start by adjusting the float level and checking the idle jets (the 2 brass screws right next to the fuel inlet) make sure they are not clogged.
