get a 4 puck disk and you will be fine. I know that I put 165+ HP out to cut 33" boggers and it doesn't slip. stage 2 pressure plate will just be harder on your left leg

put a new clutch in this weekend and rebuilt engine and switched over to a single port now its a 1641. this is my first buggy so not exactly sure what to expect. I have 31 inch trencher tires and it moves well. When i get in a ditch or something and the ground is dry the tires wont spin from a stop and i can feel the clutch slip a little when im climbing when its starting at the bottom. Any suggestions what to do, or is that just normal. Its not a problem but it is just something i noticed. I wasnt sure if most people switch to a hi performance clutch. Im guessing the trenchers are not the best idea. |

Too much traction is like having too much sex, too much fun or too much money, no such thing especially with a 1641. Your problem is more like not enough pressure plate for the tires and quite possible the weight of the car combined. Time to look into a Kennedy stage 2 pressure plate. If it's slipping a little now it's not going to get any better with time |

I always found a 4-puck clutch disk and stock pressure plate to work good with a 1641 and 3 rib bus trans. That's what's in my buggy now. |

wish i asked before i did the clutch. Although i had bought the clutch a while ago and i dont change parts that arent broke. well if it aint broke you cant fix it. maybe ill take it to the ville this weekend for some trails and see how she does. I did a custom frame so its kind of heavy but my 16 is gonna drive it so i wanted it safe. i do have tojack up my torsion a little its a bit low. |

said my pics were too large. we will probably just be doing trails ive had it there before. we went out went from free zone to scooby and at about 6am on the way back my kid ran it into a tree so we were done. but it sucked cause i had no brakes at the time. drum brakes suck ass. |

scared the crap out of me and my first time in the buggy not a great night. now ive always got that fear but ill be over that soon now with subaru disk and sentra calipers. gotta find a way to put cheap brakes on the front from auto parts store. want to manufacture hub assemblies for other bolt patterns and brakes and wheels |

If ya don't put the black rubber O ring in the flywheel, oil will ooze thru and eventually get on yer clutch disc and cause it to slip and the same for too much grease in the gland nut or sitting in a creek. |

There's no such thing as too much traction, only too little power.  4 puck and a Kennedy stage 3 held 260+bhp in ours, so a nice stage 1 or stage 2 pressure plate should sort you straight out. |

i messed with clutch slave cylinder and found it was adjusted wrong after i rebuilt the clutch. it has a stock car trans and i ran all day at wellsville even climbed the easy part of scooby and had not problems with the clutch, now the electrical thats another issue think ill be rewiring and putting on an alternator. and adjusting my torsion for a little more clearance. |
