Post subject:  First buggy....new to vw ac engines....cant find id
Hey guys. First post here. Been readn around the boards to get somewhat familiar with my buggy parts.
I bought it right after thanksgiving. Yesterday was the first chance i had to go play.
I had a blast till the clutch went out. Lol
It has it's issues that I'm slowly getting to one at a time. And learning as i go.
I have no clue as to what type of buggy frame it is. All i know is it's fun as hell ;)

I was told it has a 1641 engine. I can not find the id number. I see no stamping under the gen mount except for the 4123
The only id numbers i see is the AS 043 101 101-102 for the block halfs
I thought i read somewhere the AS Brazil blocks were aftermarket engines. Did they not have id numbers?

Let me start by saying welcome to the site and congratulations on getting a buggy..

As for the case number, I believe AS means a 1600cc case from 74 - 79. So your engine is most likely a 1641 unless someone has upgraded it.

Are you looking for the block number for a specific reason or just curious?

Nice looking buggy, I am sure someone on here will recognize the frame.

Mostly curious. But good to know when i need to order parts.
