If you use Photobucket it is fairly simple. Just click on the pic in your photobucket album that you want to use for your avatar. This will bring up another page with your pic that you chose in its original size. Just above the pic there will be a few tabs. Click on the resize tab and a dropdown menu will appear. Select avatar. That will shrink it down to a usable size. Just make sure you have a backup of the pic you chose incase you still want a fullsize version of it. I assume that you already know how to put it into your profile. If you need anymore help just let us know.
