I bought a hi torq starter to go on the buggy. Well the damn thing doesn't fit. The mounting holes don't line up. I have a three rib tranny. Is there a way to mount the starter somehow so I can go freaking ride? Flipper |

Is the shaft too long or does it have completely different mounting holes? It might be for a 6rib. You can swap out a 3 Rib Bell Housing for a 6 Rib Bell Housing but I do not think it would be worth it. Just wondering, who do you think you need a High Torque starter? What engine do you have? |

I needed a starter because mine went out, found this one for a great price but my luck it doesn't fit. It's not that I needed a hi torq, but for the same price a jumped on it. Now the wife is pissed that I spent money and it doesn't fit. |

Email hi torque on the web they will sell you the right flange as long as the gears are the same and the shaft is the same. They completely rebuilt mine for $45 dollars plus freight. |

I sent an email to hi tork. So I hope to hear from them sometime this week. Sure be good to be able to ride in the buggy sometime this year. Might have to use a tow strap and let the wife pull me around the yard lmao!!!!!! She would kill me for messing up the grass!! Can someone measure the starter bolt pattern and see what the difference is. My bell housing is a 091 the starter that I have is 4" the one I bought is a 4 1/2". Thanks! Flipper |

Only tool you need is a drill and bits. it easy to do if you just make the holes bigger and use washers. The Wild Kids wrote: If I had tools to do that I might try it. Im hoping to hear from Hi Tork today.

There is a half inch difference. Will that not make the housing weak? Flipper |

They are very helpful and can get you the parts to convert the starter you purchased or you can send it to them. They are not hard to rebuild but you should have experience with the Nipendeso starters. They are bullet proof unless you submerg them in water over and over. |

Well I talked to Chris at Hi Torque. I got screwed by a guy at the VW show. This starter is for a damn freaking Toyota fork lift! So Im freaking screwed with a piece of shit that I can't use. Not sure if I ever drilled the holes out that it would fit or work. Flipper |

Sorry to hear that, that sucks. He sounded pretty honest to me. Do you want this number? I should have his business card in my truck. |

On the bright side, put that sucker on ebay. I think the lowest "Toyota Forklift starter" is like $90.00. You should at least break even. What is wrong with yours anyways? I have rebuilt plenty of starters in the past and there is really not much to them. What was the sympthons? Probably it has worn out bushing or brushes or the brush connector came loose. |

Thanks but if I was to talk to him it might not be nice. Besides I have already tried to modify it. Going to post that with pictures and questions. So now I have a $50 boat anchor. Flipper |

Do you have a three or six rib, if you have a six rib I can get my spare stock starter brought up from Florida this weekend. My buddy is coming up from Florida this weekend to ride with me at Wind Rock in Tennessee. I live in Chattanooga so getting it to you will not be a problem. |

Thanks Red but I have the new starter in and the buggy is finally running. I sure miss riding at Wind Rock. There is a lot of great memories there. Hoping to ride somewhere next weekend if I don't have surgery before then on my shoulder. |
