I removed my motor for a tear down/paint job and pushed my rig out of the shop... I binded up a CV and broke it. Its on the passenger side at the trans axle. It is a 3 rib bus. Also, this EMPI shifter is junk, I still don't know why I can't find 1st gear. 1.) What kind of CV joint do I need for my running angle & WHERE do I get one at the best price?? 2.) What shifter do you suggest that works well and wont break the bank??? WHERE do I find it?

Here's the angle with the 1915 installed... should I look for a bus type 2? 3? The higher the number, the greater the running angle; correct??

You can just buy the cage. Think they're $18.00. Type 2 and type 4 are the same od size. You can get more angle out of type 4. I think you need to install limit straps if you broke a cv just pushing it. Once you took the weight off it extended your rear arms past the cv limit, unless your cv was put together wrong. Read this tells you all about cv's http://www.blindchickenracing.com/How_t ... ts_101.htm Cv assembly and clocking http://w ww.outfrontmotorsports.com/cv_assembly.htm Race prepping cv's http://www.dune-buggy.com/techtips/cv_j ... ishing.htm |

Wow... I never knew there was soo much to a CV joint. So a type 2 is what I need? I think mine is totally trashed. Any shifter info? |

I'd either replace the broken cage or replace all the cv's with type 4 so you can get more angle. You really need to measure the angle of the axle at full droop and bump to know where the problem is. |

Scat dragfast shifter is the best one i have used so far. about 100 bucks. problem probably is not the shifter. it's most likely in the adjustment of shifter/shift rod or an internal trans concern. adjust your shifter and shiftrod with the trans in reverse and the rest should fall into place. if not it's probably a trans issue. |

Take it out of gear and see if you can move the axle back and forth if its bound up you have to much angle if it slides back and forth free your good limit strap it |
