anybody familiar with rema cold vulcanizing fluids http://www.alltiresupply.com/p-51.html or other products?
this is the second time i have sliced a brand new tire. the shale in wellsville is really costly this time it's a 1" cut on the sidewall close to the tread. i'm running a tube now and put a patch inside but i would at least like to try close the cut a little better.

Yes when i worked at a tire store we had tires come in that had it done on car tires a few times. The only thing that realy was bad about it was after a while they would start blowing up where the patch was. But if you have a tube in it shouldnt happen.

My tires have multiple cuts. I always take them to the local tire store and they patch them up for me. I have never had a patch fail.

every tire guy i talk to won't touch it because its on the side wall, to much flex.

If you cant get any tire places to patch it, patch it yourself. Then load the cut with patch glue (rubber cement), then cut a tire plug to length and lay it in the cut. Put more rubbber cement on top of this, then light it with a match for 15-20 seconds. The plug/rubber cement will help keep moisture and dirt from getting in and working on the patch. I know it sounds crazy, and butchered, but it works. I got two places like this, one of 'em went clean thru and I instantly got a flat, and they are both holding fine.
Since this crap worked, I'd imagine a product made for the job would do it even better!

if you have a retred shop by u see if thay can valkeniz it. iv had mine done 5 times and thay all have held.also check with curt whith the studs thay run im shure thay rip tires all the time and have some way of fixing them.

i talked to my tire guy who also does retreads, he said he wont do it because its on the sidewall. i still think its worth a try, it's not like i'm doing a 100mph through the woods..................i bought the cold v kit i'm gonna tr

Everyone in this country is afraid of being sued. Go to the tire shop and buy a big patch from them. Make sure you rough up the area under the patch and glue it on. Surely they will sell you the stuff to do it. We can't be buying tires everytime we cut one.

The will do it around here as long as you tell them its for offroad use only,but for street use it is illegal(atleast in this state everything is illegal)

i'm gonna try the cold vulcunizing first, just waiting on u.p.s. if that don't work then i'm gonna use your advice and stuff it like a t-day turkey.

Sounds like a good plan! I'm gonna have to invest in some of that goop if it works. I've had WAY more than my fair share of flats!

well i gotta tell ya this stuff is the stickiest material i ever came into contact with. its like mixing poxy part a and part b. directions say to wear gloves. (see pics below) next time ill try to mix it on a piece of metal because it dos'nt stick to metal as much as cardboard or a wood surface.
clean and buffed the area then applied the special glue let set up 10-15 min. applied the throughly mixed rubber material, i used a screen repair roller to work this into the wound, working out all the air bubbles.
let set minumin 24 hr. took a grinder to the repair to remove extra material. i did two different repairs, the one near the bead had a big chunk missing (sorry no before pic) this stuff filled the void with no problem. so far im really impressed it appears to bond extremely well, and feels a little softer then the tire. i haven't had a chance to run the tires yet, got to wait till next weekend.

Years ago I ran dirt modifieds here in central NY.
I remember actually sewing up cut sidewalls on race tires with 50 lb. test mono-filament fishing line.
We ran tubes,but the tires held up O.K.
