Have any of you guys seen the hill the Southern Buggys are going to use for the climb in May?

I've heard it is not for the feint-hearted, but no where near the baddest hills in D&K. Could be all lies, dont know, just spreading rumors.

I know there are some nasties down there. I bought a buggy down there about 4-5 years ago from a couple of guys and they had some vids of some nasty hills being climbed. Wicked Spider knows, he has one of the buggies I wanted to buy back then.
Talk about a long drive from central IL though!!

Post subject:  alabama hill climb (pictures of the hill)

You can go to www.morrismountainorv.com for all the details, click on trail info and go to los primos, this is the hill. This hill has two ways to go,up and over the rock ledges you see in the pictures,or you can take the by-pass,which goes around the ledges. The contest will be a timed event, basically a drag race up the hill.I believe you can hit the hill as many times as you can,as long as you get back in line each try.

It looks rocky. Is it true that chaindrive rails can't join in the fun?

Yea, from what I have been told Chaindrives won't be allowed to compete in the event. Sucks but it would be something to see.

When you look on their website at the pictures of the hill they will be climbing. Do you notice something in the picture that is a major NO-NO!? Ouch!

So if I go and win I will spend $600 in fuel and hotels. Win maybe $500 just to have Curt say the only reason I won was because they didn't allow Chaindrive Rails. Does that sound about right?

Check out Youtube type in Morris Mountain and you can see all kinds of vids from that place. Most look extreme in scale.

That hill looks like it is set up more for jeeps. I would like to go and watch the competetion but i don't think i would enter.Just by watching that one video,it took that guy 5 or 6 min. to get up that one part. I could't imagine how long the wait will be for your turn. They should have a time limit for each rider.

Really. It would take all day if they go first. Maybe they could let the buggys all go first. That would only take a few minutes, then they could flounder around the rest of the day.

That would be fun. And I didn't say I really wanted it just that it would happen. I'm sure we would have fun. I will admit that I keep watching the videos over and over like I'm studing game films.

On the map follow firetower road to where it makes the "V" after the powerline there is also a cut through across the "V" in the road. We camp right after the Power line about 200 yards up on the left the cut through is the spot on the map.
Call when you are on the way there and I can meet you.
