4000 warn works great, only if you keep the motor running.drains the battery fast if not running.

I had a "Ramsey" 3500lb winch I thought it would be fine for a buggy big mistake in my opinion. #1 Ramsey SUCKS ! where the winch mounted was made of some form of plastic looking crap, which broke loose from the actual whinch. #2 I was stuck......but not bad I was giving the buggy full power with excellent traction, but the winch broke due to some sub standard money saving crap that should have held it together. All of my mounts held fine but the actual bolts pulled out of this whinch.......SO I swaped to the one from my older truck which is a mile marker 8000lb, I haven't had a problem yet.
Just don't choose ramsey unless you would like to have a $ 400.00 paper weight. ( 8000lb mile marker is the same $$$$$$ )
just my opinion,
Bruce

Double the weight of your rail and that is the size I would go with.

i use the warn 4.0ci, my buggy is around 1650-1700lbs. on a single pull(cable to a tree) i usually help it along by feathering the clutch. for extra heavy pulling power get a snatch block, by doubling up (cable to the snatch block/tree then back to buggy) you are doubling the pulling capasity.(according to warn)
