Let me just say i really like this site.I have been building a buggy for some time now and its most done  Chuck Jones built my frame and Dave Marks is building my motor and Tim from Southern Buggys is putting it all together. But i have a question going to use a kennedy pressure plate but what pressure I have a 2387 and a stock 6 rib. thanks Phillip

I like a Kennedy stage 4 but 2 or 3 is fine too,,,with a 6 puck,,,others will beg to differ edit: 2000 pound car with 230 hp |

I always ran a stage one with a 4-puck in my race buggy with a 170+ hp 2332, and it never slipped. Running a heavier than needed pressure plate is a BAD thing for your motor, trans, and foot! Ok, now everyone tell me i'm crazy!

I run a stage 3 with a 4-puck, that's for a heavy car with ~170lbft and full race launches off the line, never had any trouble with clutch slip. Have more than enough power and rpms available in first gear to never need to feather the clutch though, that may be an issue for you |

A 2387 puts out a lot of torque so if the car weighs less than 1600#s then a stage 2 Kennedy with a Cushlock (not the EMPI copy). If it weighs more than 1600#s then I would consider a stage 3 with a 6 puck Kennedy plate. Note: The 6 puck is a little grabby. Personally I do not recommend a 4 puck on a Woodsbuggy. Ok for racing however way to grabby for the slow technical trail riding IMHO. |

The heavier the pressure plate, the more the thrust cut on the block wears.After long neglect all that slamming will wear out your flywheel main bearing and it will not fit tite in the saddle.Then your end play will be loose and it will then play games with your brass timing gear. |

hey ody who makes the kush-loc if the ones empi has are not the real deal????? the last stage 2 p. p. i bought was in a empi box but it had kennedy stamped in it and i just assumed the kush-loc disk were the same way

I have always ran a 4 puck in all my buggies, race or woods, and personally I love it! You can get away with a lighter pressure plate! I switched to a stage 2 aluminum kennedy pressure plate when I put the suby in the race buggy and it didnt last 10 minutes and kennedy didnt have any good words for me after that. I'm considering a different brand now. |
