I'm looking to build a bed for a School bus I got this week, trying to make a cheap buggy HAULER. I'm not trying to spend a ton of money on this (if I can keep from it). Anyone have any idea's for a cheap way to put a bed on the back of a bus frame. Any there to buy cheap or scrap plate steel maybe somewhere that sells old beds for roll backs. |

Tony, try Ace Salvage 587-7621. Ask for Georgie. Tell him I sent ya. He's a friend of my dad's. Sells scrap metals of all kinds. Last time I was there he had some full sheets of steel diamond plate. A little rusty, but the price is always pretty good. Larry |

Buying steel from a recycle yard is the way to go. You usually can get it by the pound for a very reasonable price. R |

I just got back for Ace and they just about talked me in to just buying a old flat bed/bed. I have found one for $500 with steel racks on the side's. I met your dad up there Larry we talked for a bit, you and he look alot a like. |

Thats a hell of a coincidence! He's probably only down there 3-4 times a year. Georgie's a good dude, aint he? We look TOO much alike. People thinks we're brothers, because I look too old for my age, and he looks too young! Lucky sumbeech, he aint lost a hair and mines just about give out on me!  
You should've told him Jeeps suck and he needs to get a buggy! I always stand back when I tell him that, he still swings hard and fast!

Yea, I would be willing to sell them but how do you know they will work on all beds/trailers. These are 6' tall and 18' long and not sure how many peaces run down the sides to make up the 18' . I am going to look at it tomorrow and I'll get some photo's for you. |

i dont know what kind of bus you got but i got one a while back and all i did was cut out the back door + some and build new ones that open in the middle. now i haul 2 buggys inside and when we back out we have a place to sleep. cost was less than a $100. |

I would have liked to done that too but I got it with the back cut off here is some photo's of my new eye sore. So now I will just make it a dovetail back with a flatbed.

Thanks man, it wont be pretty but it will get the job done. May even keep some of the ware off my old Dodge V10 too. Can't get much worse MPG, I'm only getting 9mpg in my Dodge. |

Iv heard several of the guys that have those say they get around 10 mpg. I don't think fuel will be much of a change but if it breaks down the tow bill is gonna hurt. |

I have a 02 Quad cab Dodge with a 360 in it and I only get 8-11 MPG!!! I have made a tuff descion it has got to go |

I have a company furnished vehicle its a 05 chevy with a V 6 and it gets around 17 MPG With my buggy behind it , but thats all it wants. I wouldnt even attempt to pull 2 unless it was a have to case. Just not enough power. |

I think I will have to get a V8 or a diesel powered truck. Some diesel trucks are getting in the low 20 MPG will all or more power then I have now. |

The newer Cummins Dodges can get 20 or better if you drive it like your Granny's sittin in the bed in a rockin chair, w/ the tailgate open. It aint happening in a Ford, I got the full Banks Bundle on mine, and can only squeeze 17.5 hiway out of it with 3.73's , and being very easy on it. I've only ran into one guy who came in the dealership saying he got better than 20 in his Ford. But , he said he gets 18 pulling 14,000 lbs, too. Yeah Right!! He could be a truth stretcher 
I dont know about the Chevy's, but you dont like to walk anyways do you?

I like the power stroke and the Cummins. I like chevy trucks just not a fan of there diesel stuff. My Dodge has served me well but I hear you can get more power out of the power stroke with the addon's, I could be wrong. We don't want to have to move the thread to trash talk so I better not talk about trucks too much. |

I have a Duramax and being easy on it I get around 18-20mpg highway. But I also am stacking programs between the Bullydog and the Edge with Attitude and I also have a 5 inch exhaust. |

I have a stock '95 dodge 2wd and can get 22mpg when I do the speed limit 
I also have a 2000 F250 4x4 that I can get 17 when I do the speed limit and run bio-diesel. When I am pulling 3 buggies I only get 9.5 mpg
