has anybody tried 3/4 in grade 8 bolts in place of the linkpins to keep them from loosening up. if so how did it work? |

That is kinda what I have on my Combo spindles. I have bent them twice this year. |

did you have bolts instead of linkpins and that is what you bent,or did you bend the actual spindel or the kingpin that runs vertical? i have bent linkpins in the past,i just know how strong the linkpin is compared to the grade 8 bolt. i just repleced the drivers side with bolts on my buggy so far so good ,i guess will really try it out at coal creek in a couple of weeks if the hill is as good as the last one

Just the linkpins that come with the Tweed combos. They are a bolt, not sure on the grade. |

The trick is keeping them tight! A grade 3 bolt that is snug is just about as strong as a grade 8 thats loose. Run 2 jam nuts on your link pins and KEEP THEM TIGHT and you'll be just fine

i actually welded a piece on the end of the trailing arm so i could thread the bolt through then put a jam nut on the inside,so bolt cant turn . it looks like its gonna work pretty good,this is kinda a trial run if it does i`ll weld up some new arms. |

I bent his quickly too! then I went to saco cromoly and broke them (bad batch) Then I went to 300m pins that were fine

We just use grade 12 bolts, polish 'em up with a bit of emery and send 'em to have a few dozen electroless zinc plated - last longer and much smoother operation then. And they're cheap as chips. |

I race with a few guys that run 7/8 grade 8 bolts that hold up fine. Give it a shot! |
