What about making 2-3 sets of rules one that deducts points for a certain item(tire size for example) then adds points for something else (small motor)and another that does something different. And if you had 2-3 different sets with just a few rules in each you could draw the set to run at the drivers meeting that way no one would know how the judging would be done until the day of the climb and it might give a little edge to someone without changing their buggy. I dont want to get a TT thread started or try to make it like the tax codes but I think if you had a little something to even it up a little it might help to get some more buggies entered. Clayton is a good example he has won 3-4 of these climbs it is plain he has a strong buggy and if you have say 4 more climbs next year and he wins the first 2 in a row it may discourage someone from even trying in the next one Or I might be way out in left field even thinking never have been accused of being smarter than a 5th grader

back in the 80s they had dirt drags & they classed by carb size. something like class one- single barrel, class two -2 barrel, open class -4 barrel & efi. maybe driver could have choice to go up a class.

What about using a small judging panel of say three people rating each climb. The scores could be based on all sorts of factors such as crowd response, driver skill, elapsed time ect..ect. Just another random thought.

Another idea :
How about splitting the competitors into groups so there will be than one winner?
Every competitor draws from a hat full of "1"s n "2"s. All the 1s compete against each other, and all the 2s compete against each other. You have a winner, 2nd , and 3rd from each group who 'are in the money'. Doubles your chances to win something. Then the winners can gamble with each other if they so choose, or take your half on back home.
Yankee thought of it. Sounded pretty cool to me.

How bout if we just don't keep score and at the end give everyone a trophy just for trying.

How do you judge a hill climb? Speed, Air, Style? And who gets to choose which is best. I know I wasn't there but it sounds like whoever climbed the most hills won, correct? Not sure where the problem is, but I think the main concern is fairness in an unlimited, unconvention, no such thing as stock class. Some guys have more money time tools and experiance. Some have larger hairier ( not sure how to spell it but I can send a pic, lol) brass balls. But all love to climb who enter. Stop concerning ourselves with fairness and build the wildest rig u can, hammer the shit out of it and have a blast! You get to spend a weekend doing something you love in something youve made by hand with a bunch of fellow nutcases. Where is the problem? If you have to have classes they still will not remain fair untill u get down to 2 or 3 buggies per class.

OK,,so have a hill climb,,run what you brung.,,,When it's over give those that would not enter because of the stiff competition the hill and let them have at it and to the winner goes the spoils

like i said befor i liked the way curt did his hill climb the best.i liked the points i think it needs to be fine tuned a bit i also think that the guys that have been makeing the trips and enterin in the hillclimb are the ones yall that put on these hillclimbs need to keep happy.becuse unless you walk up and hand some ppl the win thier not going to enter.may be yall should take a vote.and let these guys that have entered in the hillclimb decided on a set of rule/classes.that would be the end of it.if you like the way thay are ran then enter if not then dont enter. and dont cry! that some thing is not fair .

You might be able to modify this style of points for our type of riding.
