Sounds like you need to follow ol Marty up to D&K for Labor Day. Gonna have an obstacle course competition, I think at night under the lights. You'll have a blast!

Come on up and join us at D&K, it'll be a blast! Check with Firebug, I think he's coming up Labor Day.

Passat, bring that thing to D&K in KY for Halloween if you can. A couple of us are heading down from Indiana and I would like to see your buggy in action. I have a few ideas that use the same drivetrain setup.

Don't get me wrong I'm not sold on the idea just curious. I don't quite understand how he has his transmission connected to the differential. Is there 2 sets of spider gears? Is one axle held in place on the front wheel drive transmission and the other connected to the differential or what :?: Also I'd like to see better pictures of the suspension.

Thanks Yall and Huey. I'll try to get pics but it is simple. Any front wheel drive motor and trans with a welded up diff turned parallel with frame .(Trans in front behind seat) Run a shaft down to any IRS differential. Nissan 300zx is a very good one.Porshe 930's out to wheels equals MULTIPLIED power.A ring and pinion multiplied thru another ring n pinion!(205)369-7406

DD I liked the wedge...But this is killer ....What you gonna name it? Prime climb 2. All you need is a cooler on the back....For the ones that ain't got a clue what I am talking about ...Years and years ago when I met DD [Dave] for the first time he was in Blairsville Ga ...I was at the top of a bad ass hill called BIG BLACK DIRT ..He climbed it stopped and introduced him self and said: "I wanted to climb that hill 1 time before I drank another beer" [he had had a few aleady  ] But anyway, so he drank the beer and said I will be back and climbed it again and we talking about a hill  He pull back up and I swear he said "I wanted to climb that hill 1 time before I drank another beer" This went on 2 or 3 more laps and dranked one every lap ...of course we had one every lap with him....Liked the guy ever since
But the name of the buggy was "PRIME CLIMB"

This got me thinking.....I have my Pinto engine & 4 speed trans. as well as a Jag Dana 44 IRS & plenty of tubing. Conventional engine/trans/rearend layout with 18" driveshaft & 90" wheelbase single seater with the driver, fuel & battery over & behind the rear axle. 6.50 gears, 40" cut & bolted boggers. 1400 LBS. maybe. I wonder how it would climb if I got the balance right front to rear?

some of the ministock dirt track racers claim they get around 200 hp out the 4 cylinders that come out of the fox bodied mustangs that a lot of them are running now in that class

The only problem I run into on this idea is the ends of the rear axle are kept in their vertical arc by "control arms, torque arms" whatever you want to call them. I cant think of a way to keep these out of harms way.

I would have to make these huge to survive the beating they will take.
