Again everyone is right , Kendal said stand up ,,then said no keep quiet because we may awaken the tree huggers ! I understand what he is saying but eventually we need to all stand as ONE & be heard. How many people know the buggies (ONLY ) were thrown out of TELLICO, If I'm not mistaken that ends in january 2009 ??? I've heard it before on this site that the SFWDA ( Southern 4wd ASSosciation ) paid alot of money to have buggies removed, but its funny because 2 wheel drive 4 wheelers can still ride there.
Personally I think the MAJORITY ( not everyone ) of the 4WD boys don't like to see those 2WD buggies out do them.
We should organize a ride in TELLICO the day the ban is lifted with every buggy from FLA.- to Maine, We SHOULD have as much right as any Jeep.

There is alot of places that allow everything offroad except buggies. The Badlands in Attica, Indiana, and Big Rock in Maysville,Kentucky. Big Rock just recently went from bikes and quads only to letting in jeeps and trucks, but no buggies allowed.

Now that you mention it , That makes me remember there is only one OHV area that I'm alowed to ride in in Georgia. The state has alot but if its over 48" wide you can't come in.......at least the 4wds can't

Theres one here in Alabama that is 4 wheel drive only, and the excuses you here are so far fetched, like the buggys dig out all the trails and cause ruts everywhere.Everywhere Ive rode with 4x4s they sit on the side of the hill spinning there tires trying to get over a rock or get traction, meanwhile they dig a huge hole on the hill.Iam not saying buggys dont dig either, but lets calll it like it is.I would like to here from someone from the 4x4 community on why they dont like us,is it because we climb better ,go faster or what,it shouldnt matter. If they like going slow and crawling on rocks thats fine with me ,I dont have to follow. They should learn from this tellico thing that we as off roaders should stick together to fight to keep all our places to ride open,no matter if you ride a buggy,4x4,4 wheeler off road is off road, unless we all want to be cruising around sonic on sunday afternoon we better learn to stick together and work together.Do yall realize we probably have the biggest club with membership reaching out all over the place,we have brought together a huge family of buggy riders from all over, just a few years ago I thought buggys was dying off,but look at us now, we have the potential to be as powerfull and be heard as loud as anybody in the off road community.

Damn, what's going on with the "No buggies allowed, 4x4's only" That's bull$hit. What are they thinking? that we're trying to take away their fame of woods machines? I think that we should all just get along, have a cold beer in your hand and have fun!

Tellico is now CLOSED to everyone permantly. Southern Four Wheel Drive paid a (so called donation) of $30 K and sweet talked the Rangers to be on their side two years ago to outlaw us buggy maniacs. Well I sure as hell hope they got their monies worth.

What bothers me if we divide on our riding areas none of them are safe. To me I don't give a rats ass what you drive/ride as long as you are supporting in some way and getting out to enjoy the riding.

I blame myself for not taking more people for rides in my buggy. I have always ridden past the trucks without even waving. That is just plain stupid. In my boat, I always waved to other boats.
Put yourself in the place of the 4X4 rider. He/ she is in a lonely place and just barely excited. The only excitement is when Extreme4X4 comes on the television and Jesse is showing some sunshine.
From now on, I am going to offer the wayward 4X4er a ride in the screaming machine of mine. I almost surely will gain a fan. It will also provide a captive audience to hear my rants.

I started this thread just trying to stop the divide among ourselves. Now you suggest we embrace the 4x4 crowd. Jim you may be the offroad version of MLK.
Your not going to ask me to wave at quads are you?
I agree with you. When it comes down to it we all need to work together to save our playgrounds.
Dean

Guys I am new to this site here so let me introduce my self first. My name is Chris White I have been around buggies all 34 years of my life. my father built and raced them all over the southeast in the 70's and then rode in the woods for the next thirty years. He also built and worked on buggies for a living. So this is what he and I did for our quality time together. In 1992 I built my first buggy of my own. We rode in a town called Odenville. Some of the Georgia guys here may remember me and my friends from riding at the tunnel. "Black hill, Pipebender,New Hill, Turn lane, Bill hill,And the greatFlatRock" Woodsbuggies are all I have ever done untill about 2002 when our land that I had rode on all my life was shut down. Four wheel drives blamed buggies buggies blamed fourwheel drives but it was really the big money deer hunters who got the land. After that I rode Tellico,Blairsville, and Clanton Alabama untill I gave it up in 2003. I sold my machine to a guy in Indiana and I nearly cried when it left. So now I have found this site and it has given me new hope. Take my advice keep the trails clean pick up youre beer cans youre bottles of oil do not cut trees to make new hills. Most of all and this is hard to understand do not invite 1 million peaple to ride in a small area not everyone is as considerate as you may be.If anyone of you have ever been to the tunnel off of hwy 174 you know why I say these things, take care of youre riding spots. Four wheel drives please do not dig out mud holes in the main road. If any one knows A guy from Indiana who bought a blue fugitive from a guy in Alabama would you tell me about it.Sorry for the long post.
