Ok,this has been a tuff subject but Iam going to try and tackle it win or lose someone has to make a call on classes.I have heard alot of talk about how to break classes down, but just when you think you got it figured out someone brings up a potential problem, thats good thats how we can work through this with imput from the competiters.I for one want to see the hill climbs continue, and I have not even ran in one, but I paid entry fee in march for support, and I know people who had broken buggys this past weekend but they still paid an entry fee for support of the sport, regardless of where your from or what type of buggy you have I think we have a great thing going and we need to continue and support it where ever it is held.I have gave this a lot of thought and here is the class break down I think will work the best and be fair to everyone,I didnt come u with this alone it has been discussed with alot of people and they seem to think it will work,so here it is

Pro/open
This class would be open to any style buggy chain drive,v-8s,conventional, whatever This would also be the class for your serious hill climber or heavy hitters you know who you are

Sportsman class

This would be a class for your heavier buggys, that is not built just for hill climbing for example motor size, built trannys,2-4 seaters, bigger tires or maybe someone that may not have have been buggy riding a long time, this is where we would have to police our selves. It would also be mandatory to move up to the pro/open class in the next event if you post times as fast as the top five or so in the pro/open class.

I know there will be flaws with this but we have to start somewhere, before its to late

Thanks SharpshooterBeware of the man with only one gun,HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT

That sounds good to me.
And the results need to be posted in a "sticky" on here so if there is an event one place, and the next event is in the other, it will be easy to determine who may need to be moved to pro/open.

I think the sportsman class needs to pay WAY less than than Open/pro class, though. To prevent sandbagging.

Like if Pro/Open pays $2000 to win, Sportsman should pay around $250 to win.

Would there be two seperate classes to sign up for before the race starts (run all of one class , then run the other)???,...
or would you let each persons time determine what class they end up in
(30 people sign up and run together. The top ten (or so) are automatically classed as Pro/open and the rest Sportsman, with 11th place being called the "sportsman winner") ???

What would y'all think about a qualifying run ahead of the race to determine classes?

If you keep the prize money way smaller for sportsman, then only a REAL WEENIE would sandbag during qualifying, and if you win like two or three sportsman events in a row by more than half the difference between the averages of the two classes, maybe that could also be a mandatory move to pro/open??
I.E., if you are BARELY winning the class repeatedly, then you should not have to move, but if you are dominating with consistency then move 'em up.

Thoughts?

I think you guys are definately on to something good. I personally have not got to climb or compete yet, but i think there could even be more than 2 classes. And if you really wanna be the best you would have to have more than one buggy to dominate all classes. Just kinda my thought..

here is the deal, the reason you cant get the guy in the smaller, stock, what ever, lesser buggy in the climb is because we dont want to flip off them hills the bad boys are flip n off of. Think about it us little guys are on a budget or we would not be little guys. then you expect me to climb the same hill as the big dogs are turning over on,I can not afford to turn over. here is what i think it will take to make this work  ,more buggy more hill , less buggy less hill , more buggy more hill ,less buggy less hill ,get the picture. I know i am at great risk of being called chicken or cry baby and thats ok. I know i aint the only one who thinks this way ,just the first one to say it.I would like to race no mater if i had a chance to win or not, i just do not want to take a chance on totaling my bbuggy on a hill i got little chance of getting up to start with. JUST MY THOUGHTS.

thats one way to put it mikey not everybody can afford to spend alot of money to just go play but no matter how much you spend if at the end of the day you feel you had as much fun as the next person then its worth it

The hills that the last one was on at D&K you would not flip. Now the hills at Wilborns are bad dangerous hills if you do flip you are going to be hurt or break a lot of stuff. At D&K you have to have more skill than balls. So come up the 5th you will not be intimidated. We will have a blast.
