I put a diode in series with the wire coming from the ground of the light to the alternator to prevent backfeed on my ignition, if you don't put one on, your buggy will stay running even if you shut your ignition off.

I thought the idiot light was the diode. You need to use a light that has two wires and doesn

if you run a msd box the idiot light is enough to backflow power to the msd and keep it running. thats why they include a diode with the msd box :)

Kyle is right, that's why I have one, I run a MSD system, when I first put it on, I turned on the ignition, the light came on, then I started the engine to see if the light turns off, it went off, it tells me it is working, so I shut the engine off but it still ran, I had to pull the wire off of the altern

Make sure you hook it up like this....

ALT ------l<------ Light (ground side or black wire)

That is a electrical symbol for the diode, the line you see on the diode is a silver line on the actual diode, make sure it is towards the alternator.

If you got 2 black wires on your light, then it does'nt matter which end you hook up.
