im looking to get a set of beadlocks... but the aluminum ones are either hard to find or they want an arm and a leg for them.... i was wondering if i really need alum. or would steel be just fine.....i understand that the steel are way heavier but other than that am i gaining anything else by going alum.. i plan on putting together a 1915 and have a 3rib already...thanks for the input...

When i went to aluminum rims it felt like I had got more motor cause lighter wheel means easier to spin , and I honestly felt a difference !

The aluminum ones are showing up on ebay now that racing season is over. I just bought two last week. paid 46.00 for one and 61.00 for the other plus 15.00 each to ship.

Hey, Ive been running steel wheels with Outer beadlocks for about 4yrs now, No complaints. Run a 1915 wit dual carbs, and a 6rib. Recently came off a hill backwards and smashed my rim, I wasnt able to get it to seal, and tubes cost about as much as the Weld in beadlock kits, So I Went with putting them on the Inner also. Went out once with them so far, Not gonna notice much difference The weld in kit only weighs maybe 5lbs tops. And being able to drop my air pressure an run the tires damn near flat was awesome for the mud. If you look on summitracings website, its the kit with Yellow rings, They are $49.99 per wheel/per side
