Hi Guys
Let me start by saying THANKS A LOT for the quick response and help you guys give .
I am starting wiring on my buggy and was fixing to order wire and ends and was wondering if
I could use traler light wiring as I have a roll of 4 or 5 color wire? Not sure the guage though?
If I have to order wire I was thinking of getting 10 and 12 gauge what do you think.
Also don't like crimp on end was going solider on ends and heat shrink.

Hi Guys
I went on line and found 7 strand wraped trailer wire that has 4-14 ga. wires 1-12 ga. and 2-10 ga wire.
It was $1.99 a foot do you think this would work for wiring my buggy or would I be better off buying rolls
of 10 and 12 gauge wire???

I would not use trailer wire. IMHO its not made well and every place you need to do a takeoff to conncet its a pain. I would go with seperate conductors. #14 for tail lites etc and #12 for headlights not exceeding 20 amp total load. #10 for primary circuits. Note #10 is only good for 30 Amps.

Ok no trailer wire. So 10 ga for fule pump. 10 ga from starter to fuse block. 10ga to coil. 12ga to head and tail lights. 12ga to backup light. While I am running wire would you run a couple of extras for future stuff?
Am I forgetting anything in the back???
The switch panel I bought is a Marpac marine panel with 6 waterprof switches rated at 20 amp with 6 push button breakers that I think are 15amp. and 6 lights for when they are on I am going to take them out of the panel and mount them on the switch and instrument panel I am building.
What about relays do I need these sinse I am using heavy ga wire and breakers?
Do you know a cheap place to buy wire and stuff?
If so where?

Sure its not the cheapest but I went to autozone for alot of my wireing needs. Mostly for simplicity.

So 10 ga for fuel pump - 14 is heavy enough
10ga to coil - 14 is heavy enough
12ga to headlights - Depending on total Wattage. Keep it to 240 Watts per 20amp switch circuit max
12 ga tail lights. 14 is heavy enough
12ga to backup light - 14 is heavy enough

While I am running wire would you run a couple of extras for future stuff?

This setup limits you to 15 amp circuits (14 Ga wire Min.). Fine for taillights, backup lights and coil. Need 20 amp circuits (12 Ga wire min)

Relays are required when the Switchs them selfs will not handel the Current. The 20 amp switchs you have should be fine. I would however consider them on headlights. Relays are just another electrical device to get wet and corode. Ask me how I know.

I buy most of my stuff on line. I don't like the quality of the stuff you get at the local Auto supply.
