The tyranny I bought on my own. Buggy was just a rolling chassis. No worrys I'll figure it out
. Anyone with a 6 rib bell housing, can you measure the width?

6 rib from the face of the starter to the face of bellhouseing is 3 3/8 in and a 3 rib is 3 in

K soil popped in the new starter for a 6 rib, heard it fire up for the first time. Thanks for your help everyone

Wow.. You have a 3 rib tranny with a 6 rib bell housing. That is not your normal configuration.

It is not a bad combo because the cross shaft is much beefier,,but you either need to use a 6 rib starter or have the starter flange milled down. Mill the flange down and use a late model diesel Beetle starter and have the best of both worlds.
