i figure its best to use marine components but i want to use a mp3 player or i pod if possible but that would require the use of an amp and i have no idea how to hook the mp3 or ipod directly to the amp ?

also does anybody have a suggestion on a place to buy any of these electronics and which ones work the best?

just get an audio to aux cord. audio side plugs right into amp and aux goes in the top of the ipod.

check ur local motorcycle shops. i found a system that consists of a small ( bout 2 in by 3 in) control unit that has an amplifier built in, and ur volume controls and a hook up 4 ur ipod(no radio stations though) and 2 speakers. and all the wires. the entire system cost $110.00. great sound. and the speakers r completely water proof and the control unit is water proof 2 a point(as long as u dont submerge it ull probably b fine)i love mine and havent had any probs.very easy install. buggynuts2 has 1 as well.he runs his on his bike he loves his as well
