will 10 guage wire work from the battery to the alternator and from battery to fuse block? i know i was told to use 8 ga but the auto parts store doesn;t carry it just 10 ga

Just go ahead and do it right the first time. There's plenty of places that can get you 10 guage wire. Any electrical supply house or even home depot/lowes probably have it.

Here is a chart I robbed,,I don't fully understand it but it looks like 10 gauge is fine for alternator to battery .
