Welcome to WB. Do you have the model number of the tach? You should be able to find out how to wire it up online by searching the model number and wiring Here are a few wiring diagrams in pdf. http://www.egauges.com/AM_Instr.asp#Gauges Most of them on here say 4 Cylinder: Clip BROWN and ORANGE wire loops. Insulate with electrical tape. |

It's a autometer model 4899 carbon fiber with shift light it has a blue and brown wires and says for 4 cylinder 2 pulse per revolution to clip blue wire only and 4 cylinder with 1 pulse per revolution to clip both blue and brown but i have no clue as to how many pulse a vw has .Plus is the tach a good one and even worth the trouble on a buggy? thanks |

Read this. they say 2 http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... revolution I would never pay $200+ for a tach in my buggy, but I’m cheap. I really don’t look at my tach when I’m climbing a hill. It is useful when tuning your carbs, setting timing, and if it has a recall to see what rpms you were when climbing. I bought a tach from Summit for $130 and it has rpm, volt, oil, and temp all in one gauge. This is what I use http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku
