Post subject:  2.2L ecotec issue

We got a 2.2L from a 2006 Saturn ion, used the computer and wiring and got it to fire up, but it dies after 3 or so seconds. All we need is a computer flash to delete some codes and such because everything else seems to be working perfect. but apparently this year ecotec is not possible to do anything with. Will we have to replace the computer with an older one and re do all the wiring? Or will the wiring from the 2006 work with a computer from an older year? Hoping you guys have an answer. Thanks!

The computer needs re-flashed and VATS deleted. The best thing is buy your own programmer like HP Tuners and do yourself.

I agree, but apparently the Saturn ion 2.2L years 2005-2006 computer hasent been cracked yet so there is no tuner that works with it.... so we're trying to figure out if there is a way to make it work some other way.

Wire in the original ignition switch and pill key.

Thanks for the tips Bubbalowe. We ended up wiring in the original key and ignition into the body control module, then ran a couple wires to the computer and it ran! now we just have to put the BCM into a sealed box and its good to go.

Great! Cobalts use BCM for fan circuits also.
