I bought a relay setup from summit racing it is a 5 pin 30/40 amp relay
Can someone post a pictureof the proper way to wire it for me ?
Every thing I looked at on the Internet contradicts itself.......
The relay kit that I bought from summit has pigtail and wires and relay .
I bought them in a two packs of two which were the same part numbers but wires were same color but in different location .

Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks Jason

Thanks Dan , the way I was told 87 power 30 is to whatever your powering .
86 and 85 are the same as you stated .
Im wondering why their are different ways and is their a good , better , best .... Lol
Don't want to lose no hp off a relay failure

I found this drawing that looks pretty easy to follow. Basically, 30 and 87 connect to make the primary circuit and carry the load.

86 and 85 connect to the dashboard switch and turn the Primary Circuit "On" or "Off"

I am not sure.. Maybe you can run 87 and 30 backwards and things will still work fine. I always connect 30 to the battery and 87 to whatever I am powering.

Now 87A is completely different and should not be confused with 87.

On another relay setup I have another relay setup sitting out in garage and 87a was jumping to the other relays . I will look at it tomorrow to see what it jumps to . I don't know if it's constant power or switched either .

30 is the power feed side of the relay contact (switch). 87 is the normally open side of the contacts. 87a is typically the normally closed side of the contacts. 85 and 86 is the relay coil (electromagnet) that switchs the contacts. Normally open contacts 30 ---] [--- 87 closes when power is supplied to coil.

As Ody said.. 87A is used if you want something to shut off when you flip the switch to on. The primary power is either flowing between 30-->87A or 30-->87.

87A when the dash switch is off and 87 when the dash switch is on. You can never user both 87 and 87A at the same time. The power will move between 87 and 87A.

ody has a little experience with these relay switches he got about 30 of them on his buggy  on the 85 and 86 does it matter what is pos and what is ground

85 and 86 will work if switched around, but the correct way to wire it is 85 ground trigger, 86 hot trigger, 30 pwr in 87 pwr out. the relay can be triggered with a hot or ground signal.
