Post subject:  Online store to buy Idiot Lights??
I have looked all over the net and am having a hard time finding idot lights. I'm close to the end of my build and these are the only things holding me up!! Can someone suggest an online store for me to find them??

Advanced Auto has LED lights. Requires 1/2 hole. Works great.

What kind of lights are you looking for? Every buggy shop in the country sells LED warning lights in many different sizes and colors. Are you looking for something in particular? Are you looking for the sensors or just the lights?

The LED style lights dont work well for the alternator light. I had one in my SS that worked great and then wouldnt go out, so i bought a new alt. The same problem with 3 different alts. I changed the light to a conventional buld style a fixed the problem.

I bought a light that said nothing about l.e.d. on the package. Light came on and light went out but it didn't charge. I jumpered the terminals on the light and it started charging so I'm guessing it is indeed l.e.d. I was throwing around the idea of putting in a regular diode across the terminals in the opossite direction to make it work. Any ideas on whether or not this will work?

Just buy a resistor at radio shack and place inline. I believe this works. They come in a pack of 5 for a $1.50 or so. Not sure what size, maybe buy a couple and try them. LED's don't have enough resistance.

the problem with an led is its a diode which only flows current one way. the wire from the alt. needs to flow current both ways to work properly. I have a gauge and the alt. works properly hardwired but i want the light to warn me quickly if the belt comes off.
