Sat. Night my starter gave up. So I thought. First it seemed to need to cool down, and then it would start. Then/now it won't do anything. I got a new starter and it won't even click. I used a test light and my switch is sending it power. ??? I don't know. Any Idea.

Just a maybe. Never paint the surface where the trans and the starter meet. Will not have a good ground.

will the engine turn over by hand. I had an engine get hydro-locked by gas. I pulled all the plugs and was able to clear the cylinders out. Found out i had abad needle and seat and caused at least two cylinders to fill up with gas. Just something else to look at.

I know your buggy is newer too. Just make sure that your battery cables are good and tight and that where they attach to your frame that it is a good clean connection.

Mine did something similar.. After 3 starters, I figured the starter was not the problem.. The starter would turn over by itself but would do nothing with engine installed..

Turned out of be a bad ground on my battery.. Check your grounds really well..

1 dead cell in your battery and you'll loose nearly 1/2 your cranking power.

Now i have installed, re-installed 3 starters like 100 times, checked my wires, ground some more paint off to make sure I have a good ground, replaced to starter bushing, new fuse box, cried, drank, and still can't get it to crank.
With the new starter, the the paper work said it will not hurt the starter if you hooked the starter wire to the wrong post so I tried this too. I will throw the starter gear out but no spin. Anything I could be missing

Cables look good, put new end on pos @ the battery, by passed the battery cut off. All power seem fine, lights, fuel pump etc... I disconnected all accessoies and except the starter and same thing. As soon as I hit the starter button (i've by passed it and tried using straight wire in case bad switch) it sounds like it throws the gear out and thats it. Could it some how ground itself out or something? This seems like it should be so simple. I did try all 3 starters I have on a spare bell housing and they all spin fine.

You need to check your amp load on your starter when its trying to turn. If you dont have an amp probe, turn on all your lights and see if they dim when its trying to spin. if yes, then everything sounds good on the electric side. I think the starter should pull no more than 80 amps, but more like 50 amps. Have you tried roll-starting it? maybe a stupid question, but are you sure you have the correct starter/bell housing combo?

Once I had a block align bored so bad it had several tight spots and it made me think I had unreal compression. It was so bad the flywheel was very tite against the bellhousing scrubbing out the aluminium.

:D :D :D :D :D

After long hours of trading starters, testing, and chasing wires its alive. My battery wasn't caring any load. The volts were good though. It seems to all have been caused by a bad Alt wire.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have now done a very good 10 times over of my wiring(on the bright side). Now I'll be leaving to ride in the morning!
