im installing a 93 subaru 2.2 into my buggy this winter and i started getting the wiring in order. i sent my harness up to engine wiring and finally got it back. i got everything wired and in its spot. i went to test the harness out today and powered it up and after about 3 minutes the ignitor decided to get hot and melt down. im just checking to see if anyone has had any problems along those lines. also how hot does the ignitor normally get?
thanks
ian

They do get warm, don't know if I would call it hot or not. The ignitor should be mounted on a fairly thick piece to act like a heat sink, I prefer a piece of aluminum. Might of just had a bad part?

i did some more checking today on the ignitor. i pinned out the connector and its getting 12v on 4 of the pins and ground in the 5th. its reading 12 volts on the coil side and 12 volts from the computer side. does anyone what voltage they get from the computer side of the plug. maybe im crazy but i wouldnt see that the computer giving the ignitor a 12v signal. i would think it would use some type of reference voltage like most other vehicles nowadays but maybe im wrong.
thanks

I would think the cpu would only send like 5 volts. But then again I don't know for sure. Do you have a manual with the schematics? It should say. Kyle has one.
