Hi,
Doing a ecotec engine swap, Enginewiring.com did my harness (looks good). I had removed the vacuum sensor from the end of my engine and had to put it back on because of this the only plug on the harness that was not plug in.
What is this thing and what does it do. (The thing with the red plug) It has a vacuum line connected to the intake and a vacuum port coming out of it that I capped.

That is the evap sensor thingy. He should of deleted it from the tune. I would call him and ask, you should be able to do away with that. I always do as long as it is deleted when it was tuned.

I had it removed and then seen the last plug and it matched so I put it back on.
He also left the O2 plug for the down stream O2 senser. I talked to Tom at EW.com before I sent him the ecu and harness and he told me he could not remove the wiring for the smog stuff legally but he said they could mark it for me to do what I wanted.
I think they were real busy and forgot to lable the smog stuff.
I'll call him and check on the tune.

Yea I just left that stuff off and unplugged. Ive got 1 02 sensor pluged in and left the other plug off. I didnt cut the wires just taped it to the loom.

I think I will do the same. I was going to cut, tape them in the loom for a clean look. I'll just tape them for now.
Did you use any waterproofing spray on the connections?
Its rained here every day for a few weeks now.
My buggy is covered but I am wanting to spray some WD40 or something for moisture.
Anybody have any suggestion?

Yep thats called an evaporitve purge solenoid. Do away with it. The factory connecters are called weatherpack connectors and as long as there in good shape they are water proof. It however does not hurt to use a little dielectric grease in them. A little insurance is always a good idea.

Thanks, I removed the evap/solenoid yesterday.
I will use some de grease on the plugs.
The connectors all look good so I should be good.
I talk to Tom at Enginewiring yesterday, he told me just to cut the wires going to evap/soleniod and the 2nd O2 sensor at different lenghts and tape to the harness and stick it back in the loom (It makes for a clean look).
