I've got a line on a 2000 Cavalier with the 2.4 at least that is what the ad says. Is this engine ok to use or is there something bizarre I should watch out for?

the best all around reliable ecotec engine is the 2001-2005 2.2. Just watch the early ecotec had problems with timing chain tentioners ecotecs are interference engines.

I've got a 99 Grand am in the driveway for sale. Its a 2.4l quad 4. I think the ecotecs are all 2.2 from what I've seen on here.

Oh i forgot the supercharged 2.0 too. Lots of choices. I only have experience with the 01-05 2.2 ecotec. thats what I have in my buggy. Real reliable and lots of torque at low rpms which is what you want in a buggy.

Any 02 and up but the new ones are drive by wire (no throttle cable) so you may want to avoid realy current models. The 2.4 your refering to is a quad 4 like nitros.

I like mine, its simple and has great low end torque. And a small stock non-reprogrammed ecu.
