ive rode with buddys wit 2.3 fords and they always complained the motor torques up and moves the rail around quiet a bit..having trouble steering..saying its cause the motor is straight where a vw is diffrent..anybody have any trouble hill climbing or drivability problems with a inline motor vs the vw???? sure would be sweet runnin ivtec 2.0..any thoughts

I've got a 2.3 pontiac and it does great. Only complaint is I have a lot of weight rear of the torsion, but slowly working at fixing that. No problems pushing side to side. And it has loads of torque.

My last buggy I ran a saturn motor and didn't have any problems climbing at all.

I ride with a few guys that have pinto motors in them with no problems.
