I have decided to sell my ej22 to finance my new tranny. It is a good running 2.2 from a 94 legacy,,with modofied harness in ammo box, and speed sensor,,plus exhaust,,parts motor,,extra ECU, etc. all for $750,,,all you need is an adaptor,,and efi fuel pump with return line. And radiator of course.

FNbuggy you arnt gunna get it any cheeper then that with the harness and ecu. Mounting plate for around $500 I think then find a radiator and fuel pump at the junkyard. It's at the limits of your budget but any WC setup will be.

If you get the one from firebug, all you need is a $115 rad and adaptor from http://www.smallcar.com is the new way to mount these. This is what I would use. The fuel pumps are cheap. This is prolly your best deal cause the wire harness is included! It takes me at least 4 hours to do the harness.

I've been running a newer stock 3 rib (it has the upper mounting holes) for two years. I just don't stab it in first gear, and I try to be gentle with it. I do have a six rib on standby just in case though. As long as you don't dump the clutch and you take it easy over the ruff stuff so the tires stay on the ground under power you should be fine.

I been waiting for some one to do the suby with tranny thing,,It would be mid engine and need chains,,,or use the rear drive with a differential.. I just wonder how the tranny would hold up?????

It wont work if your useing vw trailing arms. The arms will hit the heads. Thats why you would have to use chain drive style arms.

Fnbuggy it would probibly cost you as much to do that as it would to get a stock 6rib, lol. And it would take a ton of fab work. I got an old spare buggy I'm trying to figure out how to setup as a mid engine 4 wheel drive with IFS. One of these days.

I bought Firebugs engine (See Post Above) but have decided not go watercooled.

If you are still looking to swap our you engine for a watercooled engine. I just posted a complete Subaru engine for sale $1500. Comes with everything you need. Engine, harness, adapter plate, header, ECU, wiring harness, Fuel pump, radiator, etc.. It just needs to be installed.
