I just bought a 1999 impreza outback with the 2.2 in it. The owner had went offroading tore off the 02 sensor wiring and the plug off the factory harness. I picked up a new o2 sensor but need to know what the pin out is on the harness side. There are four wires on the harness 3 eightteen gauge, I believe red, black, white and 1 shielded grey wire. If anyone can look at their harness and tell me the pin out it would be great. I want to get the engine running in the donor car before I pull it for the buggy. Thanks for any help.

2 things.

1. the car will run without an 02 sensor hooked up to it at all. it'll throw a code, but it will run pretty well.

2. which sensor is it? the pinouts are different for them, i believe. did you get an aftermarket sensor? or just another subaru one. if it's aftermarket, it should come with wiring instructions, red = 12v+, black = heater ground, white = signal, gray = sensor ground

I did go aftermarket on the o2. The diagram does show how to hook it up but only on the o2 side. The engine side of the harness is missing the plug also. It it the rear o2 that screws into the back of the cat. The wire colors I posted yesterday were wrong. They are Yellow with red stripe, blue, white with black stripe and grey. The o2 has 2 whites, black and grey.
