I would think so. The engine alone would cost that much at most salvage yards. You can part out and scrap and make your money back. This way you get the engine with harness that go together. It is OBD1 also which is less complicated to do the harness.,,goood luck

Yes, take it home pull motor and harness. sell alum wheels, cat, and scrap the rest. At the end you might have 200 invested in motor.

most OBD I imprezas had a 1.8l engine, not the infamous 2.2.

also, again, most just had steel wheels.



not a bad choice, but I'd look for a '90-'94 legacy. a patient person could usually find those in the same price range.

Your right, I forgot about the 1.8 thing. Put an ad on craigslist stating your buying subarus with 2.2 and I got about a dozen responses every time.

FYI, Out of curiosity I enquired about this and the guy never returned my email. I asked what size motor etc.

not always. I know impreza's did get the 2.2. my buddy has a '95 Lx with a 2.2. but yea, most of them are 1.8s
