I am in the process of installing a EJ20G in my rail. Its a 2.0 DOHC turbo. It pumps out about 220hp on pump gas at at 8-10psi of boost and doesnt have the head gasket issues of the DOHC 2.5's. It is replacing a 1915 VW engine. Out in Dumont and Glamis the 1915 just doesnt have enough to pull the paddles on some of the steep hill climbs. I should have it up and running by Thanksgiving at Dumont! |

Well guys I just got my first w/c motor. Ran a 1600 before so not going to be a fair comparison. Running a 2.4l Pontiac Quad 4 Aluminum Block. Pushing just under 200 HP. This weekend will be its first offroad trial at Haspin Acres up in Indiana. Pulls nice wheelies in 1rst and 2nd on the road. 5 rib with 4ply goodyears on the rear. Jason |

Lol well I cheated, bought it allready setup for the sand last week. Added Goodyear 4 Ply V-Terra Tires. I bought a $500 project Buggy 2 yrs ago, Got married and bought a Forclosed House. Wife told me to buy one thats done so we can ride, lol. Oh did I mention we had 12 American Bulldog puppies this summer too, paid for the buggy. Took it to Haspin Acres this weekend. Did great, no problem with traction, power, or keeping the front end down. Needs tree bars, heavier cutting brakes, a front bumper and some ammo boxes and i'll be happy. |

Latest update. Took it to wellsville this weekend. did good on everything we tried. Went up Scoobys easier areas I think. Tripple threat and tripple Troule as well as Killer. But I was told a non-chain drive shouldn't go this slow over the rock faces, sorry frankenbuggy and Jayrod. And yes I know, F*$k me and my damn radiator, lol. And its a 2.3l with a six rib. Does hang a little extra weight out the back. Gunna do a few things to beef it up and counter weight it. If all goes well Plumberbill will feel generous and give me his front end(I WISH!) Buggy still needs some tweeking but as far as the engine I was as happy as a kid locked in a candy store. Metz |

I am a little biased on this subject but for the dollars and easy of finding electronics and a harness I would have to agree with Mr. Fryer and say Echo tech. If you are thinking Buick V6 then I would look at the Honda J35 series V6 just can not be beat for Horse power and torque for the cubic dollar. The J35 runs about $500.00 the computer and harness will cost about $1200.00 and the adaptor is $500.00. Did I mention they sound good on the rev limiter

I own a 2008 HHR SS and the seat of pants feeling is no turbo lag.JMHO |

I will never go water cooled again with a heavy water cooled motor unless at least a foot of baby chains was added. It makes ALL the difference ! gearing, center of gravity, and some added hiegth.But narrow is very important too because too wide will make the buggy pull lt n rt depending on which side is biting, and there is not enough side to side room on most hill climbs. Sometimes you will be so wide that you HAVE to hit an obstical coming at you. |
