Thats for transmission cooler. I have the same rad in the garage. There should be another one down lower. Is it leaking?

I haven't filled the rad up yet. It's loose and just has a rubber cap on the end so I didn't know if I need to tighten it or plug it.

as long as the nuts are tight in the tank, you dont have to do anything. Somtimes the fitings come loose and leak water from the fiting. I would plug them incase you need a cooler and keep dirt out.

If that is the tranny cooler connection, why couldnt one run the engine oil thru it? Or would it get too warm running it through the radiator?

Passages in tranny coolers usually too small to run oil thru. They wont flow enough volume thru them. Found that out the hard way a few years ago. .
