Hey guys I'm sure some of what I'm going to ask is on here but I can't find it. So sorry if it is. I'm thinking of going to ecotec from ford 2.3, i like the 2.3 platform it's easy to work on reliable, cheap, tons of aftermarket racing parts Easy to get information on but I hate the cast iron head and block (heavy as shit) they make aluminum but it's big $$$$$ I know the 2.4eco makes good power. My problems are that I can't find much info on the 2.4 eco motors on the Web. Iv heard that they have problems with timing chains I'm not a huge fan of electric throddle I can't find many after market parts Also for turbo or super chargers are yall running stock cams ? Are the turbos water and oil cooled? Is anyone having problems with water and mud ? What is the max rpm ? if you guys could help fill me in I would very much appreciate it. We support not only the L61 [2.2], but the LE5 [2.4] and now the direct injection 2.4's - the LAF & LEA. We allow the option to run cable to electronic Throttle Body. We prefer and push the electronic stuff. Our TORC, SCORE, and BAJA teams all run them without issues. We offer both turbo and supercharger options for all our kits. Timing chains do stretch. It is worse on poorly maintained engines but very easy to replace. This is a great and very durable engine. Aftermarket parts are available but the stock components are very capable. stock cast crank is good to 400 hp. Stock valvetrain is good to 11000 rpm with just a valve spring change like you would ever need it to rev that high. The block sandwiches the crankshaft and is very strong. 6500 to 7000 rpm is no problem. Im running stock cams with my turbo but comp cams makes turbo grind specific cams. My turbo is watercooled and I pirated the turbo and intercooler from another car. No issues with mud and water. my engine was running perfectly completely under water and I a had to shut it off to get it to quit running.
