The engine got hurt at the end of the season. I took it out to inspect and repair. I had a turbo and small intercooler laying around sooooooooo. I got a little carried away. New crank,forged rods and pistons,60 lb injectors,new timing chains and guides,some paint,garret cast iron manifold, and so on.

I'm going to run 15 psi. 15 psi isnt much pressure untill you add it to the combustion process. This is a small turbo and intercooler from an 88 Thunderbird turbo coupe and is'nt good for much more than 15 lbs of boost. |

What'd you end up spending on everything besides turbo setup, if you don't mind me asking. I'm curious whether or not it's worth the build or just swapping to the 2.4. |

You have my attention, looks great, do you know if a stock 2.2 will handle much boost or is it needed to do pistons and rods. I've thought about doing a turbo down the road just didn't know if it was a good idea on a stock motor, I'm not to worried about being a little rough on it cause these motors are cheap to find so I don't mind getting a spare and I think I only paid 26$ for mine and only had to put a chain in it |

It appears you can get away with 6-7 lbs of boost with a small turbo on stock stuff. Anything more needs forged pistons and rods. Everything says stock crank is good to about 400 horse power including moderately boosted applications. There is some good reading in Ecotec and Cobalt forums. |

Have engine finished and back in car. Just need to get it to the tuners as soon as I can get my trailer out from under the snow.

Back from the tuner. Its making 231 HP and 255 ft lbs of torque at about 9 lbs of boost. This is a small turbo so I'm pretty stoked. Posted using the WoodsBuggy Mobile App |

Those are good numbers for 9 lbs. Can you post a graph? One of the good things is with the bottom end build and low boost it should last along time. Till you upgrade to 25 lbs boost.

I thought I would need 14-15 lbs to get there so when he said he achieved that on lower boost I said leave it there. I'm sure it won't be enough for long. lol.

Very nice, 200 lbs of tq @ 2500. (If I'm reading it right) That should pull nicely thru the gears. I'm not about hi rpm's but I do like being pulled back in the seat when acc.
