A tidbit which I didn't see mentioned is the LE5 version of the Ecotech (2.4) also comes from the factory with a returnless style EFI system, meaning less plumbing for you and you can keep your same tank you used with your carb without having to mod it for a return line. (I created this new post so it can be added to the sticky per ImmortalSoul219's request) |

The factory uses a computer controlled fuel pump to regulate fuel pressure for a 1 line system so I believe you need to retain a factory pump. |

You need the regulator and the return line. Posted using the WoodsBuggy Mobile App |

I'm confused now, is it return less or not? I already have an e2000 pump, reg and psi gauge. Bubbalowe are you talking about the direct injection that requires the VERY high psi pump$$$$$ (intank), these LE5's to the best of my knowledge are not direct injection. |

The LNF 2.0 runs a mechanical fuel pump off the cam shaft for a direct injection fuel system which is where everyone seems to be headed. The 2.2's in Cobalts have a single line fuel system which cycles the pump off and on to maintain fuel pressure based on a signal from the computer. It's not all plus plus as the fuel sitting in the log waiting to go through the injectors picks up engine heat. To make life simple I used a Bosch pump from a late 80"s Ford EFI and then a Jeep Grand Cherokee regulator/filter to feed a single fuel line to the engine. There is still a return line from the regulator/ filter to the tank for excess fuel to bleed off and return to the tank. It's no big deal to put a return fitting in a tank, if you don't want to weld one in just get a bulkhead fitting and use neoprene gaskets. |
