Any interest in using a subaru trans to your ecotec? There is a company working on an adapter.

You can use it in a mid engine setup. Which for me is more ideal. I dont like that heavy engine hanging so far back over the rear suspension. At high speeds the rear gets squarely.

Or you can get a reverse ring and pinion setup and run it rear engine.

Also weddle makes gear sets for these trannys.

Which honda engine? They have a bunch of 4 and 6 cylinders with vtech

4 cylinder
K series
F series

6 cylinder
J series
c series

Actually is is a 6 cylinder 3.5L

Depending on which one you have the power output was drastically different.

a stock j35a is in the 210hp range.

a j35a8 is in the 290 hp range

I like the idea of a soob and a w/c mid engine. With a heavy w/c that would be the way to go. I can apply full throttle and not worry about flipping over backwards with the hated Passat. Back in the old Fultondale days with the Buick 3800 buggy, I flipped 7or8 or so times and could not apply but a 1/4" throttle at that! If I put steel plates on the bumper they weren't worth pushing their extra dead weight. And once they got in motion they helped to flip. But somebody had to be the test dummy. 1ft long baby chains with a narrow width made that Buick come alive and redeem itself .I wrote this to beg people not to make the same mistakes I did.

You can make it work passat mine climbs great. Just took some tweaking and no extra plates on the front either. Just ask everyone I ride with. But a 3800 v6 is HEAVY!! That is no comparison to the new all aluminum 4 bangers.

Actually we both scaled our buggys and terry has a heavier percentage in the frontend than mine!

Lol!!! Now if i was charlie bowling i couldnt tell you one of those top secret, ky single seater secrets!!!!!! But im not , mine is ( with me in it) 75% 25% and Terry correct me if im wrong but 73% 27% but dont tell anybody!:grin::grin:

Yes. It is heavy. 375 lbs bare. But an alternator and my home made headers i'd guess 400. And with a jeep cherokee radiator full of water, the buggy must have a serious weight adjustment. It and the single driver's seat are faaar forward. But I would like to hear about new Soob gears.

Well I have been working with Todd over at subarugears.com. The adapter was modeled in cad and he is now getting quotes getting some made. So once I get one in the buggy i will let everyone know.
