If you are not mechanically inclined and you have a big budget, go a/c for now, but bag up your money and go to an event and watch them all climb then buy a dude out of his buggy while he is still in the seat. Or at least get his cell #.

Your putting more stress on your trans not less by beating it in second gear. The idea behind lower gearing (higher numericaly) is to reduce stress and make it easier to move the vechicle. As you move up in gears 2nd,3rd,4th etc you are increasing the effort it takes to move and therefore increasing the stress on components.

Okay, here we go. A 10 speed bike. Put it in 1st gear and you can spin the tire and easily go up hills do to your torque being increased by the lower gear. Put it in 10th and you don't have a chance, again do to the decrease in torque in gearing. The rear tire sees less torque with the higher gear 10th.

Maybe im saying it wrong. your right in that there is less overall tourqe being apllied but there is more stress on parts. to use your example kinda. which is more painful? trying to take off pedaling in 10th gear or 1st? Its more stressful on your driveline to work in a higher gear than a lower gear. But if your car pulls great in second thats sweet. my heavy ass car with a 4.86 r&p climbs in 1st only.

Check out the link in my signature. Its from 2008 and still has the same 3 rib transmission in it. I don't beat on it unless it is in second gear so the ring and pinion sees less torque.

You guys are comparing apples and apples here a six rib in 1st and a three rib in second have probably almost the exact final ratio so the stress on the ring and pinion is the same. The "lower" the number on ring and pinions the stronger they are.

Ok so the 2000 2.2 I have is free so I guess what im asking is will it work? It still makes 130 HP which is double what i have now. Also does anyone know if the adapter is the same for a 3 rib and a 6 rib? My guess is they are the same cause you can swap the bell on the trannys but im not sure.
