Bought a Passat motor at the junk yard for $450 with recently rebuilt stickers on it.Thought I stole it. It had 80 compression on 3 cylinders and the timing chain was off a tooth.Got the timing going and it locked up.Who ever rebuilt it used way 2 much rtv and I had about 10 ten inch spaghetti strings of rtv clogged up in the oil pick up screen. If it ain't put together by the Germans , I don't want it.(same with transmissions) Picked up another for $500 out of a wrecked car. U know they were running when they wrecked. It has 185 compression on all 6. New is 215 but I'll live with it.It is a OBD1 but I swapped all my OBD2 parts over to it.That Factory motor has 6 rod bearings and 7 mains to share the 175 hp. Very long rods , huge valves ,cams, and 10.5 comp. ratio. The computor adjusts the trigger wheel timing so it can use 93 octane gas.I am saving up for 35" W I D E cut boggers.

I thing there should be mandatory classes, testing and formal licensing before anyone can use RTV of any form.
