MInes a Snapon...don't know who makes it but it works good as far as I know. It is 110 and I run #30 wire with 75% and 25%. I can't weld worth a flip so when I need something to look good and hold good I get my son to weld it.

Lincoln SP175 with the variable heat, not the 4 or 5 selections. They may call it the plus or something. I think its a great welder as long as you don't need to weld real heavy material. If your looking for 110 power I don't know what to tell you. Miller makes a great welder too. I would personally stay away from Hobart and the off brands unless you can't afford the others. Any welder is usually better than no welder, just know its limits. |

My neighbor has a Hobart that he bought from Tractor Supply and It is the worst welder I have ever used. I had a Chicago Electric from Harbor Freight 12 years ago that welded better in my opinion. Just my personal experience and it very well could have been the way it was set-up. Hobart may make a very nice product. I run the crap out of the Lincoln and it keeps coming back for more. Like it so much I hardly use the tig. |

I would recomend any of the big 3 (lincoln,miller,hobart)abo |

I bought a Lincoln 180 about 6 months ago, It's been good to me so far. Very adjustable and will weld anything between 1/2 inch plate to sheet metal. |

If you can afford it I would save up and get a 220V machine rated around the 250A mark. This will do everything you will ever need. I have a Snap-On 175, 110V machine and a Lincoln 255. The small one hardly ever gets used anymore although it is nice to have for certain things. |

I have a Matco 140, 110 volt, $1300. It is junk compared to my little Lincoln 220v from Home Depot, $600. This little Lincoln never ceases to amaze me for its price. Will burn right into 3/8" plate, or I can tune it down and weld a quarter panel on a Jap trap (pretty thin) and never blow out. Just doesnt have a long duty cycle. 20% I think. It is very seldom I exceed the duty cycle, though. I'm sure it will wear out quicker than a bigger model, but I use it at home. I think it would suit the needs of most any welding on a buggy. Alot of bang for your buck. Got an old Millermatic 200 for work. Been abused for years and still works great. Overkill for working on buggies at home. Larry |

I have a lincoln SP175 and it works really well for me. One thing I might add is that an auto darkening hood made a major difference in welding for me. |

I use a Miller 220v welder that'll go from thin sheet all the way to quarter inch.. I've really like it and haven't had any problems |

I picked up a used Craftsman 110v pretty cheap. Not sure who makes it, but it's barely better than using bubble gum. Flux core all the way Baby! -We don't need no stinking gas! |
